Safe Landing Youth Shelters
Safe Landing provides emergency shelter for troubled young people between the ages of 11 and 17 years of age. The primary purpose of this program is to give immediate assistance to both the young person and the family in a time of crisis. The services include short-term residential care, drop-in counseling, a 24-hour telephone hotline, and assistance in finding alternative living situations when necessary.

Two Locations
There are two Safe Landing facilities, both located in the Akron area. The Safe Landing Youth Shelter for Boys is the original facility that opened in 1978. The primary focus at that time was providing a short-term place for runaway youth to stay and receive counseling. Several years later, the program expanded to include young people experiencing a wide range of problems. The phone number for Safe Landing boys' home is 330-253-7632.

The Girls Safe Landing was built in 1987 as a project of the local Home Builders Association. Amazingly, it was constructed in a 24-hour period with over 200 tradesmen participating! The phone number for Safe Landing girls' home is 330-784-7200.
