Shelter Care - Residential treatment care for teens and young children in Northeast Ohio. Group homes for troubled teens and kids serving Summit and Portage counties in Ohio.

Shelter Care is a residential treatment program for children between the ages of 6 and 18 who manifest emotional, behavioral, or family adjustment type problems. Located in northeastern Ohio, Shelter Care provides a continuum of residential care, from short-term crisis intervention, to intermediate or respite care, as well as long term care in route to independent living.

The short-term care is provided through the Safe Landing Youth Shelters. This program utilizes a professional staff model with qualified persons serving in different capacities on a 24-hour basis. The intermediate and long-term care is provided through a network of respite and shelter homes, housing between 2 to 4 children within a family setting.

Shelter Care is a private, non-profit agency governed by a 12 member board of directors and licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services as a child caring agency. Funding for the program comes through per diem rates from referring agencies and contributions from service groups, businesses, local churches, and individuals.

Shelter Care was recently rewarded with a generous grant from the Northern Ohio Golf Charities to purchase a vehicle for the Safe Landing Youth Shelter for boys. This vehicle will be used to transport boys residing in the shelter to school, various appointments and work. A special thanks not only to Northern Ohio Golf Charities, but also to Ron Marhofer Hyundai for providing such a beautiful car for a very affordable price.
